“GAME CHANGER”
Mūsų viršelio žvaigždę, naująją dešimtąją pasaulio raketę FRANCES TIAFOE, Atėnuose nufotografavo fotografas Bruno Staubas ("Vogue Italia", "Double", "Fantastic Man"). Debiutiniame žurnalo BAGEL numeryje pasakojame F. Tiafoe amerikietiškos svajonės istoriją nuo jo tėvų persikėlimo į JAV iš karo draskomos Siera Leonės 1990-aisiais iki stipendijos laimėjimo teniso akademijoje, kurioje jo tėvas buvo išlaikytinis, ir patekimo į geriausių pasaulio tenisininkų dešimtuką. "Big Foe" pripažįsta, kad tenisui reikia pritraukti naujų, jaunesnių ir įvairesnių rėmėjų. Jis taip pat pasakoja apie savo meilę afroBeats, krepšiniui ir stand-up komedijai bei apie tai, ką reiškia turėti Michelle Obamą ir LeBroną Jamesą kaip gerbėjus.

Bagel is a new tennis lifestyle magazine serving up fresh perspectives on and off the court, including style, society, travel and culture.Through this London-based biannual print title we’re gathering original stories from the grassroots to the pro tour, as well as documenting the wider culture of the game and the ways in which it intersects with style, community, celebrity, health, society and more.All this will be packaged in future-facing art direction, photography and graphic design to bring a much-needed new look and energy to the game.

Our cover star, the new world No.10 FRANCES TIAFOE, is shot in Athens by photographer Bruno Staub (Vogue Italia, Double, Fantastic Man). In the debut issue of BAGEL, we tell Tiafoe’s American Dream story, from his parents’ move to the USA from war-torn Sierra Leone in the 1990s to winning a scholarship at the tennis academy where his father was the maintenance man to entering the world’s top 10. “Big Foe” recognises the need for tennis to bring in new, younger, more diverse supporters. He also talks about his love of AfroBeats, basketball and stand-up comedy, and what it’s like to count Michelle Obama and LeBron James as fans.
